Looking Back:
My rocks turned out very pretty! The two rocks that I chose to shape and polish was Rose Quartz and Granite. I first started on granite. I didn't really have a design or shape picked out before I started, although I did have ideas in mind. After all it turned into a diamond shape. I was happy with the end result, the only thing that I would change would be just to polish it a little more. As for the Rose Quartz, I did sort of the same thing but a bigger version.

Looking Beyond:
I did some research to be familiar with what I was working with. The science part of this project was to find out how those rocks were made. Granite is made out of quartz, feldspar, and amphibole. It gets its name from the latin word "granum" meaning grain. Small pieces of grains come together to form granite. The three colors are pink, gray, and black. Granite is a very sting type of rock, it is mostly used as countertops and statues.
Rose Quartz is almost the opposite. It is probably the most common rock. When you think of Quartz you automatically think it's clear and transparent, which is true but not always. Quartz can come in different variations of colors, such as transparent, pink, yellow and a soft red. Rose Quartz is a representation of love, peace, and comfort.
Looking Inward:
I think I definitely got desirable results. Contributing to get those desirable results does not always have to turn out perfect. Yes I set expectations for what and how I wanted m end result to look like. Not always do I succeed in fulfilling those expectations but I try my best to. For this project I was happy with what I created. Time and effort is what it took to finish this project and be proud of what I accomplished.
Looking Outward:
Since this project did not require a partner it was best to work alone. Of course I got some help from my classmates on some feedback to improve on the shape of my rocks as well as polishing. Everyone that decided to do the rock project worked alone, I think it was really the only way to create beautiful work. There are some experiments/projects that do require a partnership and some that simply are not necessary for one.
Looking Forward:
This was my last full projects of the semester and I am proud of how well it came out. Going forward, I can definitely see continuing on into this project. I take interest in jewelry and seeing the other side of how rocks can be made and displayed. I see myself doing this project again to see how I can improve on shaping and polishing different rocks. Even though I will not be in this chemistry class next year I will definitely think about stopping by and creating more beautiful jewelry.
Take Aways:
There wasn't much that I took away from this project as I expected. I learned how to use certain machines and how to cut rocks. I had a pretty broad idea of what each rock was, I dug deeper into how each one is made and their purpose was.
